For those of you not familiar with this Austrian classic, think Pinot Noir crossed with Petite Sirah to get a sense of this beautiful wine. Blueberry, boysenberry, blackberry pie baked in a buttery crust with a pinch of pepper on top. This wine loves wild game – venison ragout, anyone? Or lamb something or other or, a pot full of just plain good midwestern bone-brothed vegetable soup with crusty, warm, butter drenched bread. When the temps climb in the summer, put a burger on the grill with all the sloppy fixings and a slight chill on your glass. Doesn’t get much better. A not to be missed dessert pairing is our favorite chocolate; La Boite N.7 Pierre Poivre. Be prepared to over indulge. This is oft-times an overlooked, under appreciated wine. Don’t miss it.
