2016 Wyncroft Pinot Noir, Avonlea Vineyard

2016 Wyncroft Pinot Noir, Avonlea Vineyard

The Wine:

Reminiscent of a more delicate Burgundy such as Chambolle, this ruby garnet wine yields up a fragrant nose of sweet red currant, cranberry, cherry, pomegranate, brown sweet spices, and damp earth.   The palate is more lacy and delicate than usual, displaying pie cherry, pomegranate, cranberry, mineral notes, and subtle spices, with a lingering, velvety yet crisp and moderately tannic finish.   Coming from a lighter year, this wine can be enjoyed immediately upon release, but can cellar and improve over the next two years.

Harvested September 18-21, alcohol 13.%, total acidity .64, pH 3.45, 47 cases produced.
